Vibe coding in the 90's

Hey folks. You know how programming is hard in 1994. You need books, help files, manuals, references to learn about a certain feature. You read all those. Then you go through endless iteration of trial and errors to find out how to accomplish a certain task. Well, I found a revolutionary way to write code. You see I got this CD-ROM from a friend. It's full of public domain sample code for every kind of application you could write. You want to write a file manager like Norton Commander? Well, j

Ask HN: What are some impressive vibe coding projects? | Hacker News

I've done quite a few projects with ChatGPT. I just can't vibe (no pun intended) with any of the agent tools or AI plugins etc. Also not having to worry about API costs is the main reason so I can be as spammy as I like.

Notes from my Thoughtworks colleagues on AI-assisted software delivery

Birgitta Böckeler

Boring is good – Scott Jenson

The initial, feverish enthusiasm for large language models (LLMs) is beginning to cool, and for good reason. It’s time to trade the out-of-control hype for a more pragmatic, even “boring,” approach. A recent MIT report shows that 95% of companies implementing this technology have yet to see a positive outcome. It’s understandable to feel confused.

I Don’t Want to Be a Programmer Anymore: When AI Confidence Outshines Human Judgment

AI didn’t take my job, it took my authority. From losing an argument to my wife to debating clients armed with AI-generated flowcharts, I’m left wondering: do I still want to be a programmer, or just someone explaining why the confident answer isn’t always the right one?

6 Weeks of Claude Code - Puzzmo Blog

It is wild to think that it has been only a handful of weeks. Claude Code has considerably changed my relationship to writing and maintaining code at scale. I still write code at the same level of quality, but I feel like I have a new freedom of expression which is hard to fully articulate. Claude Code has decoupled myself from writing every line of code, I still consider myself fully responsible for everything I ship to Puzzmo, but the ability to instantly create a whole scene instead of going line by line, word by word is incredibly powerful.

The Software Engineering Identity Crisis - Annie Vella

Many of us became software engineers because we found our identity in building things. Not managing things. Not overseeing things. Building things. With our own hands, our own minds, our own code. But that identity is being challenged. AI coding assistants aren’t just changing how we write software - they’re fundamentally transforming who we are. We’re shifting from creators to orchestrators, from builders to overseers. From engineers to something that looks suspiciously like… managers.
